10 Habits of People Who Always Have a Clean Home

Have you ever wondered how people keep such a neat home? If you have kids and pets, you might think that you won’t ever get a clean home, but you can. Implement these 10 habits into your routine, and you’ll reduce the clutter and chaos. Start with one habit each week until you have them all into your schedule.

Do Laundry Regularly

  • Do the laundry regularly. Instead of struggling through loads of laundry over the weekend, keep on top of it and throw a load of towels in the washer on Monday, linens on Tuesday and so forth.
  • Put things away in the proper place. Not only does this reduce the clutter, it stops you from freaking out over losing your keys and wasting time looking for the flashlight when you need it.
  • Don’t procrastinate. Clean up quickly and promptly. When you’re taking care of your mail, open it and file it or toss it in the trash. Don’t just let it stack up on the counter or your desk. Vacuum Regularly
  • Dust and vacuum regularly. Everyone knows how dust builds up over time. Making a clean sweep through your home each week makes you feel better and want to keep up with it.
  • Each night, put things away. Load the dishwasher and start it to have clean dishes in the morning. Hang up used towels. Clean up the counters. This way, you’ll start tomorrow morning with a clean slate and the mess doesn’t pile up.
  • Wipe down the surfaces of your house every day. This includes the Wash Sinktable, the bathroom sink, the kitchen sink and countertops. Grease and grime won’t have a chance to build up, and you’ll have everything ready to use in the morning.
  • Empty the dishwasher in the morning. It won’t take but about five extra minutes to put the dishes away. This lets you load the breakfast dishes in the racks. When you get home from work, you won’t have to clean up to start cooking. You’ll be ready to go.
  • Clean up as you cook. If you’ve watched any of the cooking shows, you know that a disorganized chef seems to be more chaotic than one who maintains a nice work station. The same holds true for you. While you’re waiting for the fish to bake, put away the ingredients you’ve gotten out. Wipe down the counters. Load the prep dishes into the dishwasher. After dinner, you only have to load your dishes, which makes clean up easier.
  • Make your bed each morning. Yes, you’re only going to mess it up at night, but making the bed is symbolic of putting away yesterday and making way for the new day. Your bedroom will feel as if it’s in order and the bed will be more inviting in the evening.
  • Put your clothes away. Have a hamper for dirty clothes. Even better, have three hampers for sorting your dirty clothes before laundry day. Take your clothes to the dry cleaners regularly, and hang them in your closet when you get home.
